I’m planning a fun competition to highlight the best robot reveal videos from around the world. If your team loves video editing, storytelling, or just showing off your robot in creative ways, this is the perfect chance to get involved!
It’ll be a lighthearted contest where teams submit their most exciting, innovative, or just plain fun robot reveal videos. I would be willing to sponsor a trophy (and maybe prizes for 2nd and 3rd too) for the top teams!
If you’re interested in participating or want to learn more, let me know! I’m interested in creating more things for the freshmen in my team to do and I know that with the competitive and friendly nature, a Reveal-Off might give them and others on my team more to do. I’m just wondering how many other people would be interested in competing.
i would love to see this! our robot reveals have never been particularly masterful in terms of editing, but it would be super cool to see some of the better ones spotlighted. I have a few other teams in mind… cough610cough
Umm just watched that I can comfortably say congratulations 610. That was like actually a masterpiece. I think It would be really cool if other teams put that much thought and effort into it as well. To make others stand a chance I might add more categories but then there might be a 10$ fee or something so price of shipping and trophies doesn’t kill me.
I have no idea yet so far I’ve seen a 5-6 people with positive responses to it so I think it would be something cool to do. More information would get announced after kick off so far only positive reviews so I think there’s a good possibility of this happening.
Maybe you can do a trophy/prize for overall best, and then honorary titles for other categories, digital certificates and the like. On that track, sending 3d files for teams that would like to print their trophies might be a fun idea
Here’s a rough estimate of the awards a total of 10, time is still not figured out but I love the basic idea. My team is Lance-A-Bot just like lance a lot from the round table so the awards are themed that way.
Let me know if anyone has any thoughts I think it connects really well with my team.
These are super creative categories! Some of the later categories seem to be more like awards for robot design; seems like it would be more impactful to have them all revolve around the reveal itself? The last two especially. I don’t know if all of the categories are necessary, unless you’re dead-set on a full set. You could think of it like champs divisions: there isn’t one for every scientist, and I think a lot of those will do an excellent job of recognizing a good variety of reveals.
I see what you’re saying. I’ll talk to my team about this more and see what they say. I liked the idea of keeping it just video-themed, so taking off the last one is almost a no-brainer. I do really like the Unconventional Design just because those are always so much more fun to watch, like 971’s robot; it makes it more memorable after watching. And like 610’s wheel design for charged up in 2023.
