It’s possible that you need to install the Microsoft .NET framework on your computer to run it. .NET executables have the same extension (exe) as Win32 executables, but require the .NET framework to run.

It didn’t give me that message, but had an unhandled exception. However, I think it was something related to creating the files and then trying to write to them, because after they were created I stopped getting the error. I suspect it is was trying to open a file that was already in system memory (hadn’t been released after creating it).

We, by the way, use donated laptops, some rather old (mostly Windows 7). Strangely, the students aren’t that laptop savvy, in part because the expensive computers in most of their pockets and the use of chromebooks at school. I’ve updated two scouting laptops to 64-bit Windows 10 this year, but application wise I’ve only thus far ran into only one program (a 64-bit beta of a Tableau-like software for R called Exploratory) that I wanted to try out, but couldn’t because I didn’t put the extra time to do the 64-bit install on my ageing laptop. Anyhow, for this program I’d probable distribute a 32-bit version because it isn’t memory intensive.
