2102 CAD Release 2019

Team 2102 is proud to present CAD for our 2019 robot Flip.

This was by far our most ambitious design yet, and it paid off. Flip was the second overall pick at the Del Mar Regional, Captain of the third alliance at the Utah Regional, and the first pick of the eighth alliance on the Carver Field at the Houston Championship. It also competed at Wings Over Camarillo, Battleship Blast (Day 3), Chezy Champs, and Battle at the Border. Blue Alliance Page

We designed this robot to be capable of front and back scoring to decrease cycle time, especially in Sandstorm. We accomplished this with a sideways mounted elevator and arm.

A goal of ours was to increase our mechanism integration. Many systems accomplish multiple goals, including our cargo intake doubling as our climber, and our hatch manipulator also serving as our cargo placer. This allowed for less systems, and some weight loss, but limited our ability to iterate during the season.

In the off-season our team designed a WCD chassis, named Blackjack, to teach newer members. It features fixed c-c chain, and a new bumper mounting system. It is being used to train new programmers, and will serve as a prototyping base during the season.

I like the choice for number of bearings on the robot. I’ll add that to my list of pit-scouting questions.

We were looking through the build season order sheet and were trying to figure out why we ordered over 300 bearings. Someone ended up counting them, leading to the fact sheet.
