We were demonstrating at the fair and I guess a news team decided to stop by.

We’ll be doing a demo all day long at the New York State fair on Sunday.
It’s a great way to get the word out to a very large audience.
Though I think doing off seasons at fairs would be even better.

Vivek,
That is great coverage and a very nice piece. What a great idea to take some of this year’s game and modify it for the audience and the space alloted. Nice job!

Ditto the above comment. While demos are interesting, holding a modified robot competition which fits the venu is genius. Great use of a “devious mind” to create something that several teams could compete in daily & which culminates in a cliffhanger “Championship” event. Thanks Vivek for posting the link; fantastic coverage.

I wasn’t part of the planning for this. There were about 10-15 teams involved through the entire 12 days of the fair (it’s still going on).

It really was a well planned event.

thanks, Vivek

For 2 or 3 years NASA-Goddard put on an off-season competition at the Maryland State Fair. It was 3 days of non-stop competition and then the local teams did demos for the other 8 days. Lots of fond memories and stories from that event involving corn dogs, SWAT teams with really big guns, bailing out the tent, sponsor recruitment, baby pigs, and pizza and chik-fil-a fundraisers (not all at the same time :ahh: )

Have fun to all those involved in demos at State Fairs!
