Hey Guys,
While I am not on Team 254, I would like to call to your attention that they have released their technical binder for the 2017 robot, Misfire on their website.
Congrats on your 2017 Championship Win The Cheesy Poofs!

Exciting stuff! Always cool to see how they analyze and prototype. Thanks for posting, I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.
These are always a great read, as they provide insight into the design process of a stunning robot.
The center drop on page 13 is listed as 0.6", but I’m not quite sure if that’s correct…
I’m thinking this is not an official release, and that now that this thread exists the file will be taken down soon.
What?
Yeah this is likely prerelease. The PDF is labeled v0.4.
Not an official release meaning they didn’t intend for this to be viewed by the public yet.
It is live on this page.
Hmm. Looking at your website then vs now it appears you’ve gained 25 pounds? What did you guys add? A new gear intake?
Excuse me if I am out of the loop, just curious.
Are they going to do a reveal video this year? I’m guessing not, but one can hope, right?
Also, where’s the centering flange on their climber? I can’t find it in the render.
How are the 254 bumpers so absurdly nice? Any tips for the bumper plebs?
I think kidnapping a couple of the 254 students is your best bet at pretty bumpers.
But actually, have any of the powerhouse teams created tutorials or documents about building bumpers? I am too lazy to look, but if there aren’t, i’d be down for a ‘Bumpers on steroids’ tutorial. I’d get our team to do it but our bumpers are never anything special.
Kidnap some 254 moms. Everyone knows moms make the best bumpers.
The awesome 118 everybot program has their daily build blog, which includes (iirc) some bumper making instructions or at least how they do it on the everybot.
Maybe it’s meant to be 0.06"?
I got a kick out of seeing my team on page 11
In all seriousness, this is a very useful resource and the amount of work put into determining strategy just goes to show what a top-class organization 254 is.
Sorry, everyone. This is an early draft that was posted by mistake by a mentor (me) without first checking with the responsible students to ensure it was ready to go. We’ll make an announcement when the binder (and maybe the build blog) is published for real.
No moms involved with our bumpers. Our students do a kicka$s job on their own.
Any idea when your code will be on GitHub? It’s always interesting to read.
I was talking with a few of their mentors a while ago, and they are working on a guide, I’m not sure if they want it out yet though.
