Hi, I’m Jan from Tigres 6652, we are having problems with our 3 CIM ball shifter on our WCD chasis, I recorded a video to you can see the trouble better, what is happening is that when we are powering our drivetrain it is vibrating or moving with the spin of the gear, I hope you can help us with this:(
Even we had problems with our 3 CIM ball shifter housing where we fix 1 of the 3 motors it brokes the plastic tapping and we had to set the motor for housing’s outside
Here is the video, thank you so much for read us:))
If I’m seeing this right, you have a good bit of droopage on the gearbox, right? Its very likely that’s the original source of your problems, as the ballshifters don’t take kindly to the plastic housing deforming. Things shift all over the place and gears grind away.
We used to run an identical setup with the clamping bearing blocks and the ballshifters (usually 3 CIMs as well) and ram into similar issues. Our original solution was a piece of churro that goes between the gearboxes on either side, which is what I’d recommend here. I think we did something with using extra long bolts to hold together the plastic gearbox housing, which also threaded/inserted into the churro.
We later made a custom plate that combines the ballshifter WCD kit (that external metal plate on the gearbox) and the clamping bearing block along with some beefed up hardware, which seemed to solve the problem.
The vibration leads me to believe that the drive shaft has been bent some from all the drooping. That gearbox needs to be mounted flat to the chassis bar, get rid of the bearing block on the gearbox side. You should be using 217-3634(wcp gearbox bearing block) I believe to support the bearing on the other side of the bar. If the gearboxes continue to sag I would follow Troy’s instructions for a cross brace.
