3-second "Grace Period" for Amplification not being applied

While watching ISR #1, I realized that often, notes scored towards the end of the Amplification period were consistently being awarded 2 points rather than 5, even when being counted within the three-second grace period as specified in 6.3.3:

For example, in Match 4 of the playoffs, A6 (Blue) amplifies with 43 seconds remaining in the match, and 32 points.

With about 3 seconds remaining in amplification, 6740 and 5654 both score a note in the speaker. However, these notes aren’t processed at the end of the nominal amp period, meaning the score is still 32.

Immediately after amplification ends at 0:33, the first note is counted for 2 points, rather than 5, despite clearly being within the 3-second period. (The same happens for the second note, which is scored at 0:32)

This happened more than once throughout the event. Another example is Qualification 13:

The Blue alliance amplifies at 1:06, with 51 points

9738 scores a note in the speaker with 3 seconds remaining in amplification, and this note is still unprocessed as the 10-second period expires.

Immediately after amplification ends, the note is counted for 2 points, despite clearly being within the 3-second period.

While neither of these issues directly impacted the outcome of a match, I can easily imagine close matches being significantly impacted by the 3-point deficit resulting here.

I saw this as well, it did seem as though it was manually adjusted a few seconds after the note is counted (add 3 more pts), although I could be wrong about that.

They did do this in some matches, and in Q13, there appeared to be two phantom points added towards the end of the match, which could have been an attempt to correct the score but may have also been a foul.

In M4, there were no points added at any point.

Even if they are attempting to manually adjust, I don’t trust that people will be able to keep track of this during a match with any degree of accuracy

I can tell you for sure that this grace period was non existant in ISR #1. I don’t know that anyone complained about it since it affected everybody equally.
It took us a few matches to figure the system out, and while the grace period wasn’t a thing (and therefore we stopped going for the speaker with less than ~3 seconds to go in amplification), we did realize that since it takes notes between 3-7 seconds to get processed and go through the sensors, the ‘right’ time to amplify is only when the human player sees the note hit the conveyor and start moving towards the sensor

I looked at some more, you are most definitely right, notes are not being counted as amplified when they clearly should be, and some are being counted as amplified when they shouldn’t be. Hopefully they address this in the next few days, otherwise we may need to alter our strategy.

We are aware of, and have resolved, an error observed at ISR District Event #1 in which the 3-second
extension after AMPLICATION described in Section 6.5.3 AMPLIFICATION was not active. All event results are
final and will not be adjusted.

It flipped our match at milford semifinals, and they wouldn’t ajust it. not an amplified note, but there was an auton buzzer beater (still should’ve been 5) that didn’t score until 20 seconds into teleop and was scored for 2. We talked to the head ref and later contacted first, but they claim it was scored correctly.

We had the same happen to us in Muskegon a few times. Notes were getting stuck in the funnel of the speaker and not falling through the counter. Lost a few amplified notes and a good amount of last second auto shots that way.
