Hey guys, on behalf of 388 i just want to send out a big congrats to all of you guys, from looking on FIRST’s website at the standings and match results it seems like all of you guys did really well at your regionals!! We will see you all at nat’s right?? I heard thru the grapevine that sparky is gonna get to go, so hopefully we’ll see you all there too… congrats to MiM on the chairmans award win too! that’s fantastic, and you guys deserve it!! Congrats again,
see you in a couple of weeks!
jacqui, 388

thanks very much jacqui, this is horribly late. but i thought better late than never. without your help with the boxes we woudln’t have been able to make the stacker that won us the xerox deisgn award. Thanks very much to you and all on 388

Jacqui,
Sorry I haven’t replied sooner. Thank you for your congratulations. On behalf of 395, I would like to congratulate you guys once again on the Chairman’s Award at NASA/VCU and once again tell you how much we enjoyed working with you guys as an alliance. I wish you and the rest of the amazing crew on 388 all the best for this upcoming season. I am currently working on getting our team back to VA and we hope to see you there. If not we’ll see you at Nats. Take care.

Wayne

I hope we do see you guys back at VCU, both Grundy and 2 Train!

hey guys, good to hear from you!
i personally wont be back this year, maybe next year, if i can swing it somehow - ive returned home to australia so its kinda a lil outta the way! but im tryin to get some things started down here, so we’ll see. As for 388 though, the team is in marvelous hands and i have no doubts that they will continue to go far - grundy’s team is blessed with the best leader you could ever ask for, and some truly amazing mentors…watch out for them this year, and if you see any of em, send em all my love  good luck this year guys… its great to know that you’re still out there

-jacqui S. - 388 at heart.

Jacqui, and others in this thread,
Hey! I don’t know how everyone on our team missed this but thanks for the cangrat’s. Team 343 certainly will be watching and looking forward to working with Grundy, Sparky and 2-Train this year. So far our plans this year are to attend Peach Tree and Palmetto. But there is hope for a return to VCU. There have been rumblings of us attending a third regional, nothing official though. If we don’t meet up at a regional we’ll have to get together at the “Internationals”. Can’t wait for Kickoff! Sound like lots of new and exciting challenges ahead. Keep going strong!!

Gene

We’re loosing all the big teams! We lost MOE now MiM!!!

Gene it’s good to hear from you again. We hope to meet up with you and the rest of MiM at one of these competitions. Isn’t it a shame that we don’t have alliances of four? How does a 300’s alliance of : 343, 384, 388, and 395 sound? To all of you on Grundy, MiM, and Sparky, everyone on 2Train wishes you guys the best this season and we’ll be looking forward to working with you. Take care,

-Wayne

2train! wow i remember you guys, you ruled. Anyway, maybe we’ll see you at nyc next year. And maybe i will see you guys next year if i come with 759 as a mentor!

Ed,
759 is definitely our favorite team across the pond and at the nyc regional. We are very much looking forward to seeing you guys back over here, and as you said hopefully yourself as a mentor. I know 759 is a seasoned vet of NYC, but if you’re team needs anything please get in touch with me at [email protected] and i’d be more than glad to help out. See you guys here in March.

-Wayne

thanks very much for the offer of help Wayne, we may well take you up on it!

Right now 388 plans to go to vcu, and we are qualified for nationals weather we will go or not had not yet been decided wants to go

btw we have changed the name… agin… to “Welded Minds”… but I think everyone knows us as the grundy team or 388 so anyway…

now ya know im 388 all the way, and its kinda cute… but…but… i so loved maximum oz!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

eh, I wanted to keep it too… but since the program went county wide they felt they needed to change the name… and the colors

edit
I dident much like Maximum Oz at first… but it kinda grew on me and after we did so well under that name i think it should have stayed. but I wasent consulted in any of that before the decisions were made and sent to FIRST. Right now their looking at colors… possably an camo with blaze orange writeing  I still want to keep the good ole blue and gold
/edit

the colours too??? :frowning:

we find naming our team the hardest part of the comeptition, i think we spent about 3 meetings on it.

in out first year we were “spork” but in the second year we decided to change it, initially to “teh 240V metric monkey flux n00bs”, but that was again universally derided, so we played it safe and went with “systemetric” in the second year.

Even though the commentator at NYC seemed to have real problems pronouncing this, we were called a number of things including “systematic”, “systemic” and “symmetric”.

We did have plan on calling our team “Bo Selecta!” for the sole reason that the commentator would have to make an idiot of himself by announcing us simply by saying “…And from Cambridge, England, team 759, Bo Selecta!”

But as i said we stuck with systemetric, which i think is still our name for 2004. Anyway this is a bit of a threadjack so i’ll shut up now.

Sparky and Grundy,
We made the decision and the 2Train is coming back to VA to see y’all! I’m also pretty excited to see 33 the Killer Bees from Michigan (where I’m originally from, go ThunderChickens 217) is joining us. They’re performers and should spice up what is an already pretty stiff competition. NASA/VCU is going to be a blast. Take care.
