My team was looking at the diagram under 4.4.2 and we were confused by the part of the requirements that say “In stage 2” and “In stage 3”. Does this mean you have to score an additional 20 in each stage or do the points stack?
We think it’s an additional 20 in each stage, so in total 49 cells would be scored plus the control panel movements to get that ranking point
Oh. That’s useful information.
Ok thank you!
My team is also confused by this. We assumed it was 20 balls total…
My thought was that only 40 cells are required for stage 3 completion. Stage one’s cells can be scored in any location, so I don’t see why they couldn’t be double-counted.
Because the Table 4-1 says twenty cells “scored in Stage 2”, and likewise for the twenty cells in stage 3, we think it’s additional per stage.
Well only 48 balls are available so I’m not sure how 49 would be possible…
You can recycle balls back into play.
After being scored the balls are available to the opposing alliance to re-introduce into the field
I just completely missed that never mind, thanks y’all.
Look at 4.4.3
4.4.3 CONTROL PANEL Scoring
CONTROL PANELS ACTIVATE SHIELD GENERATOR stages two (2) and three (3) as described in
CONTROL PANEL . A stage may be ACTIVATED once it reaches CAPACITY, and a stage must be
ACTIVATED before the next stage can begin charging.
Once all three (3) stages are ACTIVATED, the SHIELD GENERATOR is ENERGIZED (the SHIELD
GENERATOR does not need to be OPERATIONAL to be ENERGIZED and vice versa.)
You can’t start charging the next stage until the one before is activated. Then you need to start charging the next.
The table confuses me. To activate stage 2, you need to score 20 power cells in stage 2. How can that be true? Surely it means 20 power cells in stage 1?
The way I see it:
You start the game in Stage 1.
Once you score 9 POWER CELLS, and the match enters TELEOP, you have ACTIVATED Stage 1, and begun Stage 2.
Once you have 20 POWER CELLS and ROTATION CONTROL, you have ACTIVATED Stage 2, and begun Stage 3.
Ditto for ACTIVATING Stage 3.
I agree. There is a difference of being in stage 2 and ACTIVATING stage 2
Yes - ACTIVATING a stage actually means completing that stage. (see table 4-1, third column)
Do you have to score all 20 of the power cells before doing rotation control or can you do rotation control at the same time as you are scoring the power cells?
Score 9 power cells - level 1 capacity reached
Once teleop has started - level 1 activated
Score 20 power cells - level 2 capacity reached
Rotation control complete - level 2 activated
Score 20 power cells - level 3 capacity reached
Position control complete - level 3 activated
Each stage must be charged to capacity and then activated consecutively
But I don’t think you have to score all 9 (for stage 1) before teleop starts. Right? If your alliance gets 6 in, in auto, then 3 more in teleop, you’ve activated stage 1. Right? Anyone disagree?
Agreed.
Side note, if you have received color assignments via the other alliance reaching Stage 3 CAPACITY, and are in Stage 3, can you set the color before you reach Stage 3 CAPACITY and have it count?
