This is our really cool robot! It shipped today at 4:45! We will see anyone who is going to the VCU regional and/or the Nats. this year is definatly our best year, and last year was our worst year. After all everyone has a bad year
Tell us what you think of our bot!!!
well, seems that the picture size overdoes the size limit, ill try the gallery, look in the gallery for our pic!
Here’s a close up picture of team 401’s drive train this year…we opted to go with a suspension type system complete with compression springs, (not shown). The hole in the center of the polycarb is the pivot point, not a horrible mistake in drilling that plagues some teams.
We are all of 13 inches high and 130 pounds this year. If you go to the gallery, you can see us holding up a box. What you probably can’t see is another set of arms directly underneath them that we use for orienting the boxes so that we can pick them up. We’re faster than we were last year, somewhere around 11 fps, haven’t really timed it running around. Can’t wait to see how it does at Richmond and Nats.
where is your competition? i bet if you get a good smack from the sides that lexan side will crack. especially if it’s my robot.
Eric should have at least posted a link to this year’s robot’s picture.
As you can see, the drive train is thoroughly protected. Besides, at half-inch thick, lexan is bulletproof. So at 3/8" i’d hope it’d be strong enough to take a hit from another robot. Another bit of info…two years ago we made our robot completely out of polycarb. That’s right people, no structural metal at all. Here’s a link.
