498's Mini 2006 Robot

This is a robot my brother and I built, called Cobra Gooding Jr., it took about 2 weeks to build. It uses 7 VEX motors total (1 per side for drive, 1 for a pick up conveyor belt, 1 for a conveyor belt to our shooter, and 3 for our shooter). The shooter is driven by a 1:66.66667 gear ratio, so I’m estimating it’s running around 3000-3500 rpm (I don’t know the specs on the VEX motors). It shoots a stress ball about 10 feet, I’ll put up video later once we shoot one. The only pieces on the robot not a VEX product are some blue vinyl, a piece of aluminum, and a piece of brass.

Currently there are no sensors, I don’t know if we’ll get to attaching any.

Go to the Cobra Gooding Jr. page in the Images section. If you can’t see the navigation bar at the top make sure pop-ups are disabled.

Would racquet balls work as well in our robot, since we’re using about a 2.5" ball currently and racquet balls are slightly smaller?

Loooks really cool great job but how bout some higher res images with backlighting?

They’ll be coming, along with video. We just finally finished with it (spent a while fixing programming errors and we changed the gearing on the shooter wheel twice), so I grabbed the closest digital camera (which isn’t very good) and used it.

Okay, new images are up now, and below are two videos of our robot.
