At the Palmetto regional, robots with floor pickup were more rare than 30 point climbers. I never saw anyone successfully perform a 5 or 7 disk autonomous score. (Though I didn’t see all that many matches.) Are there other teams out there who scored 5 or 7 disks during auto? Anyone catch this on video?
Match video not practice video.
Sorry wrong link. Fixed.
At Kettering 70 and 1684 both preformed 5 disk auto’s. 70 may have gotten off 6 or 7. They did on the practice field.
Several teams at Hatboro-Horsham had the capability of scoring five. 2590, 1403, 103, 25, 365, and 341 at least. 2590 was the most consistent at it and was the only team that could really go for seven. The most impressive autonomous alliance was 365, 103 and 2559. 365 would score their pre-loaded three, drive backwards and collect two from mid-court to shoot. 103 would score their pre-loaded three, drive underneath the pyramid to collect two more to shoot. 2559 would score their pre-loaded two. I know they had a match where they hit 11 shots in autonomous, not sure if they ever got all 12 to fall.
This is the only video I could find.
For week 2, I expect several 5, 7, and 9 or more disc autos to surface.
Many of the elite teams haven’t played Ultimate Ascent yet, and are appearing for the first time this week, teams like 1114, 2056, 254, 233, 148, 118, and more, all of whom are known for ‘extra’ game piece autos in past years.
We have a 5 disk routine we used in Traverse City (MI District):

Never managed to hit all 5, our hopper system needs a bit of work
That feeder arm on 1986 very much reminds me of 67’s arm last year.
I wonder if this is purely coincidence?..
I think 67’s arm was a source of inspiration for a lot of team’s arms, though I think 1986 was looking more at a spactula, and the final shape came out to look like 67’s. While ours isn’t on our robot yet (and may not be for a while), ours was definitely inspired by 67’s arm from last year.
it was a coincidence silly
I did see 70 get 6 frisbees in a match on Saturday. They were real close to getting 7.
Purely coincidence, although 67 is a source of constant inspiration.
As 67 noted this design is very similar to our arm design from 2012 and our spatula style pick-up from 2011.
Awesome job EXCEL!! Congratulations on your win with 1918 and 4835 at Traverse City. A great combination of teams.
Great to see you going for the 5 frisbee auto. We are able to do a 5 frisbee auto also and working towards 7 auto by West Michigan competition. Also excited to test our floor pick up system this weekend at Gull Lake District. Good luck at St. Joesph!!
