BREAD has been hard at work on our 2024 alpha recipe this year, and we’re all very excited to share this small taste!
For us, the “alpha” revision is intended to be a platform we can use to both de-risk critical aspects of our mechanical design (this year, the shooter for a particularly new game piece) and get something in the hands of our software students that can play portions of the game as quickly as possible.
I’m very proud of the all the work the students put in to make alpha this year! Special shoutout to the software group for proving to the rest of our team that this 6 piece routine is actually possible
The auto modes are going to be wild this year. Can’t wait to see them all!
Same, must have taken quite a bit of dialing in. The distance isn’t as difficult as it seemed, but the fact that it didn’t wobble back and forth at all is very interesting.
Definitely makes me question what aspects of this game FIRST will need to change/update for Champs. Last year was super charging, this year will likely need a game changing mechanism too.

As for people who keep asking “Why” or question when this would be used - I’d say “who cares?” Even if this exact auto isn’t used at an event, doing stuff because it is challenging is fun.
