5th gear Simulator help

Hi all!

So I was trying out the new sim and started a instance of it in server mode and then ran another instance in client mode. When I went to connect the client it gave me an error

Unhandled exception: Could not find part of the path
‘C:\Windows\system32\Bots\OverDrive’

so then I tried it in lunacy mode and got this:

Unhandled exception: Could not find part of the path
‘C:\Windows\system32\Bots\Lunacy’

Please help me out!

I want to say something didn’t install correctly and try a re-download & re-install.

KD,

First piece of advice - Always search before posting  - There is already a thread for 2009 5th Gear discussions. I pay attention to that thread, I could easily overlook new threads…

Second - Congratulations - Several people have made the mistake of thinking that they only need to run one instance (the server) of the software. You got past that hump.

The other post in this thread is on the right track - Either something prevented files from being installed, or they got installed someplace where 5th Gear (5G) can’t find them.

I’m going to send a separate email to my colleague who wrote/configured the installer - He should be able to take care of you.

Question - Did you perform an installation? or did you try to copy all the necessary files from some other computer where 5G had been successfully installed? If you tried to copy files, then I suspect you missed some…

Blake

I ran setup.exe. I tried installing again but it still doesnt work.

Sorry it’s giving you a hard time - I sent that email to one of the other developers - Expect to hear from him soon. - Blake

Thanks

Hmm, thats really odd. Why is it looking in your windows System32 folder for your files? It sounds like the working directory of shortcut you use to launch it is wrong. If you right click on the shortcut and choose properties you can check that the “Start In” directory points to the 5th Gear root directory.
