I just have a quick question for everybody. If we were to open and work on our robot during Day 0, would it count against our alotted 6 hours of maintenance time before the competition (Day 0 referring to the preparation day before tournament matches actually start)?
The rules for the access period are pretty clear. If you are attending a 3 day event then you do not get an access period prior to the event. If you are attending a 2 day event then you get six hours the week prior to the event. Any time that the robot is unsealed prior to the official at the the event unsealing the robot counts against the 6 hours. You do not really have a day 0 like the 3 day events. Which is the point of the access time being allowed.
Interesting point you bring up. Seeing as Day 0 at the MAR events has practice sessions and inspections scheduled I would think that maintenance, corrections/modifications will be happening.
The MAR event schedules look very interesting and I can see a time in the near future where there will be more district models being developed.
Once you get to your event and are cleared to unbag, you can work on your robot if the pits are open. But what we’ve learned in FiM - it’s really not that much time. You have to get inspected during those few hours on Thursday evening and Friday morning. And on Friday, a lot of time is devoted to driver meeting, opening ceremonies, etc.
