6574 Pre-2020 CAD Release

Team 6574, Ferradermis has been working on a few Preseason designs for the 2020 season.
First are two WCD chassis designs. The first image is based off of our drive train from 2019 with some small updates for gearbox changes and new wheels. The second builds on the idea by adding a bumper rail system that is also commonly seen. Both have parametric constraints so the important dimensions can be changed very quickly.

The next two images show the motor controller towers we have been working on. They are designed with using less horizontal space while still making it easy to connect CAN bus and power to the controllers. The towers can handle SparkMAX, Victor SPX and Talon SRX. They also have the function of slotting together to create a customizable size row.

The rest of our CAD workspace can be found here: https://grabcad.com/library/ferradermis-6574-2020-cad-files-1

This contains everything seen above as well as our current parts library.

I really like the motor controller towers, seems like a great way to save control board space!

I am assuming they will be 3D printed (correct me if I am wrong). If so, it seems like the connecting tabs and matching slots might be a bit hard to print and get a good fit, so I’d personally maybe change up that joint a bit, maybe do a dovetail or other joint with easier to print 2D geometry.

The only other thing I might add is zip tie holes for the motor and power leads. Should be fairly easy to add and would do great things for wire management!

You’re correct, they will be 3D printed.

I’m not sure if we’ve printed any yet, but @scubadiv3r might be able to offer more of a response to your suggestions than I can.
