Outstanding story, an awesome representation of the power FIRST can have to students in challenging school systems. The teams who succeed where “traditional” education seems to fail never cease to amaze me; Teams in LA, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Arizona, Harlem, and the Bronx are but a few examples of exemplary FIRST teams in “Bad” districts. Great job with your students and good luck this year!
Excellent story…it serves to remind those of us who are mentors what our real job is…we need to ensure that the kids who are most challenged also receive the most encouragement and support from us so that all our kids succeed.
