8.2.1 <R6> Question

The ROVER WHEELS must
be used in a “normal” orientation (i.e. with the tread of the wheel in contact with the ground,
with the axis of rotation parallel to the ground and penetrating the wheel hub).

Does this mean that our wheels have to be parallel to the sides of our robot or the other wheel? That would fall under normal orientation? we were thinking about angeling our wheels so that there not parallel with each other

I think the rule says that you have to put the wheels vertical to the floor, and it doesnt have to be parallel to the sides of your robot or the other wheel.

thats what i understood from this rule if i’m wrong tell me…:stuck_out_tongue:

Hugo is correct. Another way of putting it, the axle through your wheel must be parallel to the floor. It can be twisted in any orientation with respect to your robot frame.

This rule explains why some teams are deciding on using crab drive this year, all of the wheels, all of the time are facing the same direction.

what exactly is crab drive? I never heard of it…

now thats interesting. thanks!
