90 Pt. Auton with 3539, 469, 217

3 point goal was a magnet.

Who is 3539 and how did they get to be more awesome than 217?

3539 is The Byting Bulldogs, and their head coach, Mike Copioli, is (I believe) brothers with ThunderChickens coach Paul Copioli! Maybe awesomeness runs in the family!

They are brothers…

That explains it…

Good grief that’s insane to watch…and first time I saw it was over the webcast. Must have been crazy intimidating to be in Blue 2 for that match.

To be fair, 33, 1718, and 68 put up an insane amount of points in the end too (168). They definitely held their own against the 219 score of 469, 3539, and 217. That auton was beautiful to watch tho.

What an amazing show of how auto can shape a match! I believe that auto is just as important if not more important than end game this year

Team 3539 is a third year team from Romeo, Michigan. In 2011 we were quarterfinalists at the state championship and qualified for St. Louis based on points. In 2012 we attended the state championship but were not picked to play in the elimination tournament.

Our head coach is Mr. Dan Gardner, who started the team in 2011. Mike Copioli joined our team this year as a controls mentor and drive coach.

If you have any specific questions about our team feel free to ask!

it’s interesting that 469 shot only 2 discs before going to the centerline to collect the other 2 and they then shot 3 after going back to the pyramid, I wonder why that was… but anyway, amazing job guys  I was hoping someone would pull off the 90 pt auto.

MSC was so much fun to watch. congratulations to all the FiM teams.

It was probably timing. They would most likely run out of time if they shot 3 then moved.

i’m not sure how it would save them time… they’re just moving the 1/2 second or whatever between shots from the end of the first 2 shots to the end of the 2nd 2 shots…

If unblocked, 469 is astoundingly good accuracy-wise and speed-wise. Was that 30 in auton, 10 climb and 78 regular disc points (26 discs)? Insane.

Our scouters counted 28 discs in the SF 2-1 Match vs 33, 1718, and 68. Against some solid defense from them too.

This was very impressive. Highest auton ever in Ultimate Ascent.
Even more impressive was standing in the driver’s station while all of those 15 discs hammered into the 3 point goal. Rather intimidating to be on the recieving end of that
Great job by all 3 teams.

My guess is that either they were more accurate during the second volley of frisbees than the first, or they wanted to give their shooter wheel more time to get up to speed. Or maybe a bit of both.

That was a really good alliance, congratulations on winning MSC.

They shot 28, but I’m fairly certain two bounced out… I could be wrong though. It was crazy how fast their cycles were either way.

wow, that’s some amazing programming talent on those teams. I thought ours was good. 15 discs, I don’t even know what to say

It may have been to beat anyone else trying to get those. We played a match against 987. They didn’t shoot there whole load and then beat us to the center disks.
