I’m thinking about making/writing a dashboard setup that is a little more mobile (and a lot less pricey) than IFI’s version. I’m thinking either a TI graphing calculator or an old PalmPilot Personal.
Has anyone tried this or similar? Success, failure? Was it easy? Should I buy a tablet PC instead?
[edit]Clarification: I mean a substitute for IFI’s Dashboard program. Something that can connect to the dashboard port on the OI.[/edit]
One way you can start to make it more mobile is by making a portable power supply like Team 222 Tigertronics made. It can be found on the white papers. It’s pretty much 3 9V batteries wired together into a special plug you can buy at radioshack. It works really well when you have to work in a place where it’s hard to find a plug in like outside or somewhere in an empty place. It doesn’t last very long since they’re only 3 9V batteries, so i recommend getting some back ups too, but overall it’s a really nice design and good job Team 222 and good luck. Wait…now i think about it, you mean the dashboard as the controller or the dashboard as on the computer when programming??? I may actually be totally wrong when I am talking about this, but if this is of no use to you, sorry.
