A Shout-Out to 4265

This is a second year team that really gets it.

When we were at championships in the Archimedes division, we encountered this team, 4265, the Wildbots, several times, and they were a fantastic team.
First of all, their robot was fantastic. One of the best pure cyclers in the division (and one that somehow didn’t get picked!!!), we allied with them during one qualification match.
During strategy talks for that match, they were accommodating and great to work with. We were discussing the possibility of them feeding our ground loader with discs, and they basically told us:

“We think we can full-court shoot. We’ve never tried it, but it sounds like a good idea” (Paraphrased, obviously)

They ended up scoring a few full-court shots, as well as feeding us with multiple discs for ammo. We won that match by over 50 points.

In addition to their on-field performance, they were a part of our scouting collaboration. They were eager to scout, and offered accurate data, as well as being fun to scout with in general.

At our team’s strategy meeting, when the discussion of picking teams came in the chance we were an alliance captain, their name and number were discussed several times as a great pick that could fly under the radar (and they did fly under the radar. Far under the radar. )

In short, our strategy team was thrilled with them, our scouts were thrilled with them, and their performance was fantastic as well.
I hope to see them and potentially ally with them at IRI, and I fully expect this team to be a powerhouse for years to come.
I look forward to seeing them at championships again!

-I’d like this to be a thread of stories about great teams and alliance partners- teams that really get it and excel at representing FIRST, especially young teams like 4265.
Share your story!**

I haven’t seen a thread about it on CD (might’ve missed it) but I think FLL Team 14830, Gears in Motion deserves a shout-out. They helped a FRC team after champs when their bus flipped over.

Read more about it on the FRC Blog.

Someone did post the blog post about that.
That FLL team is just a few miles away from us as well- they’re a part of the same school district as our friends on Team 3044, 0xBe4.

In addition to having a fantastic robot, the Wildbots are running a fantastic team. They won Rookie All-Star at Smoky Mountain last year and this year they not only won the event but also had a Woodie Flowers Finalist and Dean’s List Finalist! For a second year team, they also submitted an impressive Chairman’s entry - http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2806.

Definitely a team to keep an eye on.

In a field as deep as Archimedes, where spectacular robots like 1519, 2959, 11, 1756, 836, 316, 71 etc were still left on the table near the end of the draft, Wildbots were one of many who drew a short stick, despite having an absolutely fantastic robot. I look forward to watching them at IRI!

Glad to see this young team get the recognition they deserve  Had a chance to get to know them better and their students and mentors seem incredibly driven.

Kevin, we can’t thank you and your team enough for the kindness and gracious professionalism you have displayed on and off the field to us! It’s teams like 20, 1912, and 11 that inspire us to set high goals. Rachel and Akash, your friendships are so valuable not just to my team but to me as well. Thank you so much for your support!

4265 is pumped for IRI! The opportunity is truly a blessing and we can’t wait to play on the same field with all the FRC legends we’ve only dreamed of meeting. Can’t wait to see you all there!

I was doing some pre-scouting for IRI when I came across video of you guys. Mind was blown. There’s something about fast shooters that’s just cool(example: compare my team at Midwest and my team at IRI) You guys definitely have one of my favorite bots this year!
