A team of you.....

I was wondering, what kind of bot would I make if there was a team full of me. Let’s say there was 50 me’s on 1 team. What would the bot look like? Then I realized. I am an awesome drafter and get some decent ideas. However, I can’t weld, machine, program, or wire. In short I would win the Inventor award for one simple reason. My drawing would look exactly like my bot, but that is just because my bot would be awful. Not really sure if I could actually figure out how to make it move.

Ok, thats a scenario for me. Now how about you? Would you go to nationals or does your’s end like mine? What is your downfall? It doesn’t have to be technical. It might have to deal with people skills or maybe your just a lousy driver. Think about it and see where things take you.

My bot ould personally be built in like a week, with a great but very complex design. Then all 50 of us would sit around one computer yelling, and trying to program it the next 4 weeks.

We would then build another robot much simpler, and we would figure out how to program it in time, but very poorly. It would do well, be selected probably as a 3rd team member. We would do decent but not great.

If I had a team of 50 me’s:

There would be no robot, or at least it would be really basic and use a kit frame of some sorts. It would pretty much just be able to drive around and push stuff, but not other robots. I would figure out how to program it enough to drive (if it was last year, it would be in easy c)
But, we would be registered for our our regionals and the championship in advance, with all the airfare and hotel accommodations purchased at good locations at low prices. We would have a decent amount of funding and it would be managed well with a good budget. The team would have a lot of community out reach and have the chairmans award essay, presentation done on time. The writing would not be that great for the essay, but the presentation would look good.
Spirit would go on the back burner, but there would be t shirts and buttons.
The Website would get done eventually, but would be no where close to an award winning site, but would have a lot of integration with social media (Twitter)

My bot wouldn’t move.

Programming code is french to me

ROFL, I chuckled at Keith’s description.

If there were 50 me’s on a team, the robot would be a basic drivetrain assembly. The superstructure would probably fall apart, since I didn’t whatcha-ma-call-it the thing-a-mabobs, leaving the whos-it-is completely behaffled. But the team’s website would win the Website Excellence award, we’d have an awesome mascot, there would be more than enough funding, and don’t even get me started on the donut consumption.

Of course we’d be lacking in programming, animation, and essays. But who needs programmers?

(I shiver at the the thought of all the programmers creating evil computer-controlled robots because of my statement)

If there were 50 of me on the team there would be no robot because I am a tremendous procrastinator but we would rule the Chit Chat pages of CD like Gods!
