A very special Thank You

On behalf of Team 5333 and 5663, I’d like to thank Team 3132 and FIRST Australia for everything they’ve done for us this season.

FIRST Australia has given us a wealth of help over the past years. Without them, we wouldn’t be the teams we are today.

This year, both 5333 and 5663 have qualified for the FRC Championships in St Louis, making us the first teams in Western Australia to make it to worlds. Getting to worlds is daunting… finding sponsors, organising delivery of the robots and registration are only a few of the barriers making it difficult to travel to St Louis. Finding sponsorship and raising money to get two teams to worlds on such short notice is difficult, especially considering how new FIRST and STEM in general is in Western Australia.

I’m overjoyed to report that I’m currently writing this from a hotel room in St Louis, thanks to the help and support given by FIRST Australia and Team 3132. From the bottom of my, and my teams’ hearts, I’d like to thank the wonderful people who have helped make over 25 kids (and a handful of mentors) dreams come true. You’ve shown how gracious and generous you are, and how much you care. You show us, and the world, that this program is truly more than just robots.

~ Team 5333 “Can’t C#” and 5663 “Ground Control”, Perth, Western Australia

Very sweet and you are going to have an unbelievable time here!

Congratulations on making it to Championship! Hopefully your jet lag wears off quickly!

Congrats and good luck!:

I know you team has inspired me to look into using a Kinect for vision processing.

Team 3132 is so pleased that our friends from Perth have joined us this year! Both of your teams have truly earned your place at this event, and will not only do Perth proud, not only Western Australia proud, but all of Australia and the Asia Pacific. I can’t wait to see the looks on your faces when you first walk into the dome - it’s a real treat! We’ve been so glad we could help, because yes, this program is definitely more than just robots, its about inspiring kids to pursue STEM interests, and opening their eyes to the vastness of our world.

Go #westcoast!!!

Welcome to the Northern hemisphere, it is really nice of you to visit us!

Have fun, see the Arch, and be overwhelmed by all the FIRST stuff. Worth It All.

Thank you for the kind words Jaci. It was great meeting the Curtin teams and getting to know you all. The technical expertise of your students and their ambition to continuously improve amazed me at dinner and on the bus ride to the hotel.

I wish you all the best and we’ll hopefully see you at DDU.

Thanks for the wonderful words

Unfortunately we won’t be able to make it to DDU this year due to schooling and travel constraints, but we’ll try our darndest to make it next year. Be sure to give all the teams over there my best
