There has a been a lot of talk around here lately about conrtroversy surronding the regionals.
Basically, we are talking about 2 major problems we are coming across-
The fact that Chicago and GLR are the same weekend and that CHAOS is on the waiting list for NE.
I have two sides to each argument.

I am angered that MMW and GLR are the same weekend, especially since alot of the teams that went to Chi-town went to D-town as well. That really mixed things up and you got to see alot of your favorite teams twice. However, I must agree because it is providing an open door for schools up in the northern Michigan area to have FIRST teams. There are no FIRST teams near Lansing and I would like to see one from East Lansing, Haslett, or Okemos, and I think that having a large turnout of Michigan teams at Michigan State University may spur this as well as teams from the Cheboygan/Traverse/Alpena areas as well. So I am on both sides of the argument.

CHAOS is a Northeast team that has always attended the Northeast Regional. However, this year they have been placed on the waiting list due to the full registry of teams at the regional. Some think it unfair that other midwest teams who plan on atteneding be allowed in when there is a team waiting that is from that area. Now, I have two positions on this as well. Yes, I think that the regionals should be able to cater to the teams that are close by, however, they can’t just call up all of the teams in the area themselves and say, ‘Hey, are you guys coming, or what?’ It is the teams’ job to call in, and if someone beats you to the punch, then you have to find another road to travel down. However, I do understand that for CHAOS this is going to cost more money to travel, possibly more absences with their students, and they aren’t going to be in the same routine as usual if they aren’t granted entry into the regional. But I wouldn’t look at this as something terrible; you actually could use this to an advantage and expand your horizons by going to play with other teams just like some of the teams who are going to take the entra step by going to the Northeast regional this year.
Keep the peace everyone, everything will work itself out, and always try to look at the bright side of things. Seeing two sides to an issue is sometimes hard, however, it is what you should do in life if you plan on being successful not only in personal relationships with others, but in all of your endeavors.
