additional window motor

I searchd the threads, AND the manual. I am unable to determine if we are allowed to use an additional window motor on our robot. We would use the motor from the 2007 FRC kit. It looks like we just need to add this to the BOM and not depreceiate the value. Are we even able to use a total of THREE window motors?

You can only use the number of and type of window motors provided in the KOP. If the 2007 motor is the exact same part number, then you can use it to replace the 2008 motor, but not in addition to it.

<R59> Additional motors specifically permitted on 2008 FRC ROBOTS include:

All motors, actuators, and servos provided in the 2008 Kit Of Parts,
HITEC HS-322HD servos,
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) servos (Innovation First part number 276-2162),
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) motors (Innovation First part number 276-2163), One or two additional 2-1/2” CIM motors (part #FR801-001 and/or M4-R0062-12 in addition to those provided in the Kit Of Parts. This means that up to four, and no more, 2-1/2” CIM motors can be used on the ROBOT.

<R60> Items specifically PROHIBITED from use on the ROBOT include:

Electric motors and/or servos different from, or in addition to, those in the Kit Of Parts, with the exception of those specifically permitted by Rule <R59>.

Electric solenoid actuators (note: electric solenoid actuators are NOT the same as pneumatic solenoid valves – the latter are permitted, the former are not).

Can we use a 3rd (One from last year) CIM motor?

If so, what is the torque of the motor using last year’s gear box?

Using the motor–yes. I am not sure about the torque.

So let me ask a question then for clarification, can we use a third CIM motor for something other than the drivetrain if we only use 2 on the drivetrain?

As was mentioned by squirrel (<R60>), you can use up to four CIMs on your robot this year. You can use them for anything you want, assuming they don’t break any other rules.

The answer to your question is yes, you can. You could even use it for your drivetrain if you want.
