[deadpan]If you can’t handle yourself on the field without the kids supervising you, maybe you shouldn’t be a coach…[/deadpan] I’ve seen several drive coaches–adults–who maybe need to think about why they’re on the field with the students, and how their actions may reflect on their teams, and their own selves. I’ve also seen several student drive coaches who have been really awesome and mature beyond their years, who if I had to give a recommendation for based on what I’ve seen I’d be pulling out a pen on the spot.
Really, it goes both ways. The students need to be mature enough to handle most (if not all) stuff without needing an adult as a steadying influence, and the adults need to be mature enough to recognize when to step back or forwards as the students don’t or do need help.
