Advice for laying down carpet

We were lucking to get a used carpet after a competition last year and now are ready to set it up for the season. After unrolling it, it is very bumpy and doesn’t lay flat. I’ve read some previous posts on carpets not staying flat and creating dumps so I thought I’d ask for any advice for getting it lay flat and stay flat. Also, what’s the best way to fasten it to the floor (our space has a concrete floor)?

This is what we used to lay down our field carpet Carpet Tape, Double Sided Carpet Tape in Stock - ULINE, we left it unrolled for as short as possible and to get bumps out we had to keep walking over it and straigtening it out which took a long while, we also laid our carpet down on concrete

Did you just use the tape on the edges? Or put a grid throughout the entire carpet? Or something else?

with our carpet it is 15ft sections by 30 and we have 4 sections, we used in on the edges only with good results both last year with over 500 driving hours by over 20 teams combined we also used 4inch gaff tape on the top of carpet seams.

Leave the carpet rolled out over night, then have the whole team shuffle the length of the field to stretch in out. There is a high likely hood that used carpet is no longer straight, the middle of the field gets stretched out more by the robots and you end up with 2 curved carpets pieces. If you can’t get the pieces to lay flat and with an acceptable gap, you get to try to trim the pieces straight at the seam.

Put all your batteries in one tote, and push it along as you tape the carpet down. the flat surface with high pressure helps flatten everything, like a really big ironing board.
