Advice from the Past

While browsing the deep pit of the Wayback Machine, I found this very old announcement with advice and fair practices. It seems most of it, if harsher, is still relevant today.

From what I’ve gathered while browsing old CD forums, it seems this place used to be much more toxic than it is today. Advice everywhere from people reminding other people to just be kind. So if you ever feel like FRC is getting worse, and rudeness is seeping in, it’s good to remember that the internet is (normally) a more moderated place nowadays.

Good luck, have a wonderful season, and read the manual.

One of the small things I love about CD is it encapsulates over a decade of internet evolution.

I have posts on my old account from the 2010 build season. Things were so different on the internet back then. I recently went back and read posts too. Here’s some things I find oddly nostalgic and interesting:

  • T9-text speak. Even tho u ddnt pay per lttr, it was still used.
  • Much more casual language. I’ll leave it at that.
  • Message Board Emojis. They just hit different back then.
