After the parks close...

Hey, i was on the WDW website and i noticed that a lot of the parks seem to be closing earlier this year. Magic Kingdom closes at 6 thursday and 7 friday; Epcot Future World closes at 7; Animal Kingdom always closes at 5 because of the animals.
Just wondering…what is everyone planning to do after the parks close? My team is staying off-site, and i think most of them aren’t even planning to buy Disney passes because they don’t expect to have time to use them.
Do any of you have plans to go to Downtown Disney or anywhere? If so, let me know!
luv y’all,
Amy Ross

Does that fact that there are published closing time smean you have to leave?
Not that I am planning on roaming a closed park…
umm

We always make a point to go to disney quest in downtown disney at least 1 night, if we have time eat at Wolfgang Pucks.

I think I’m going to call today to get ‘official’ park times, and again later in the week once the brochures go to print.

www.disney.com and www.wdwinfo.com list conflicting ‘official’ park hours.

Anyway, after the parks do close, there are still fun things you can do.

Disneyquest in Downtown Disney Westside is a giant, 5 floor arcade. It’s about $30/ea. to get in, and then everything but the food is free.

Fantasia Gardens/Winter Summerland are two miniature golf course. The first is located outside the Walt Disney World Swan, while the second is at Blizzard Beach. I’m not sure of their operating hours, but I’d imagine that, if it’s daylight, they’ll be open.

Stormalong Bay is the pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club hotels. . . while pool hopping of Disney resort guests isn’t really allowed, they’ll almost never stop you. Stormalong Bay might as well be a free waterpark, because it’s huge.

The monorail is just fun to ride around.

Outside of Disney property, there are some other things.

Old Town has a few portable carnival rides, a Windstorm roller coaster, and the world’s tallest SkyCoaster. The SkyCoaster, though, is expensive, at about $35/ea. for a ride.

Congo River Golf on International Drive has Katanga, which is also kind of expensive, but very cool.

There’s lots more, I’m sure, but I’m drawing a blank just now.

If I think of other things, I’ll amend this post to reflect that

There is downtown disney and then again you could alway go back to your hotel and meet everyone from robotics that is staying there.

You could always come by us and join in the newly-invented Team Uno game, or one of our many card games, and theres always the mountain-dew bowling, or eating cheese  lol

Comming Soon:

Mountain Dew Bowling 2-Xtreme

im all for raiding the downtown disney clubs…or just raiding downtown disney all together and having some fun…thats just me though

Does it make a difference that wdwinfo.com is “The Internet’s Largest UNOFFICIAL On-Line Guide to Walt Disney World”? The times listed there are probably the normal park hours while the ones on disney.com are updated specifically for this month. Also, one of the parents on our team suggested they might be closing earlier in the day because of mosquitoes.

We would love to get together with other teams…anyone staying at the Days Inn Maingate West? Didn’t think so. But if anyone is planning anything specific for any night wed. thru sat., tell us when and where and Beach Bots will be there.

i’m in too…Team 357…we need something to do…so uhh give let me know

we have REALLY early curfews so i dunno what i or our team can do. on of the nights it will be 9:30 (i hope thats Indiana time)

for the rest of you don’t ever come in late from your curfew! it can get you into a lot of trouble, i know from experience

Curfew? There is such thing as a curfew?

Does a hopper pass work for Pleasure Island and do you have to be 18?

you have to be 18 unless you find someone 21 or older to get you in. im pretty sure you have to buy another ticket for about $20 to get into pleasure island, last year our park hoppers only got us into disney quest or a water park for a day

Well, maybe. They call Disney Reservations on a daily basis to find out what the park hours are, and then update their information to reflect that.

But, there’s a discrepancy between their hours and the official Disney site’s hours. Actually, I’d be more inclined to believe the unofficial source, as Disney has been lousy in updating its website in the past.

At any rate, I forgot to call today  Tomorrow it is.

You have to be over 21 and a parent or legal guardian. Just any old 21 year old won’t do it. Sorry :frowning:

Admission is $20, but college students with a college ID get half-off, usually.

Alrighty then, well for those of us who aren’t in college. Beach Bot is planning a tentative game of late night mini golf for Friday after comp. Not quite the same as pleasure island, but it should be fun if anyone wants to join us. There’s a place at Disneyworld called Disney’s Winter Summerland that looks fun…anyone know anything about it? I found this description of it: CitySearch - Your local city guide
It closes at 11, so i thought maybe after comp. if people want to eat dinner or go back to the hotels maybe we could go golf about 9 or so. Anyone interested?

WinterSummerland is two miniature golf courses located adjacent to Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Both are traditional miniature golf courses, as opposed to Fantasia Gardens, which has one whimsical course and one hard-core miniature golf course.

I haven’t played at either, but they certainly look interesting

To get to 'em, you’d have to take a bus to Blizzard Beach, which sometimes shares a bus with Animal Kingdom. I’m not sure how they’ll run once those parks have closed, though.
