Aligning to speaker with localization pose or with the april tags on the speaker?

I want to be able to face the speaker automatically by either using my current pose from localization or the tx value from the april tag on the speaker.

I’m using limelight 3.

Some people have said that localization is the way to go, since it is arguably less volatile.

Others have said the opposite.

What do you think or recommend (specifically for LL3 running LL software)?

This late in the game, I would just point to target with the LL and ignore the pose. This will work fine for aiming. It really depends on what you’re trying to do overall.

For years, teams could effectively aim at targets using just the tx and ty values of retro reflective tape and no 3D information. Unless you have a another reason why you have to do full 3D tracking, I would strongly recommend going the simple route. The limelight docs also have great examples of doing using just tx and ty: Getting in Range | Limelight Documentation

That’s what we ended up doing. Works really well!
