I was thinking about all the digital pictures I have…well over 100,000 of them. There are hundreds of pictures of robots from other teams, that attended the same regionals our team attended over the past 15 years.
I wonder if someone is saving pictures of all the robots, somewhere? I understand that TBA has a lot of pictures of robots over the years, but putting pictures there is not something that’s easy to do, as batches.
Should I bother trying to get these pictures somewhere where they could be archived? if so, how/where? or should I just let them go?
I know Spectrum’s incredibly vast photo library has thousands of pictures of many robots, but I’m unsure if they accept photos from teams or if these photos are all theirs.
I would absolutely love the idea of a public FRC Robot & Mechanism Photo Collection (same concept as this Spectrum Collection) - I personally love being able to look at and study past (and current) robots through pictures.
Anyone can upload photos to the public upload folder for our mechanism library here - Spectrum 3847 Photos
We don’t have a way for people outside the team to tag photos easily which is the most time intensive part of maintaining the library and we have fallen behind in doing that well.
@MrForbes if you have your photos organized in folders or by event, etc. Message me and we can probably find a way to get them hosted on our gallery and keep some of your organization, and tag you as the photographer. Then we can still link them into to the larger mechanism library.
I can save them to my Instagram 1stroboticrocks. I archive all the robots at every FIRST Robotics event I attend. I have had people send me pictures of their robot as well. TBA used to use them to ID robots that don’t have pictures.
