We’re usually very open to letting teams know that we’re interested in teaming with them on Saturday morning, but are clear that we understand they have several great options and fully understand if they feel that another team would give them a stronger alliance. Similarly, we have appreciated the times when higher-ranked teams have been honest with us by telling us that they don’t intend to pick us so that we can plan accordingly. However, the pre-sharing of picklists is not something that we’ve yet been faced with, but I would speculate that we would likely be cautious about doing that. While we love collaborating with other teams, weird things happen during alliance selections, so we don’t want to potentially tip our hand to a potential opposing alliance. Also, there are times when for one reason or another certain teams end up not on our picklist - which could easily be misunderstood. We would rather have those conversations directly as opposed to them getting it 3rd-hand.

At the top levels of district and regional competition, alliance selection is an iterated/repeated game, not a one shot.
