Cyber Blue 234 used them as our main drive transmissions this year, direct driving our back wheel (4wd, wide body). We used 2 stages giving us 13.5:1 reduction.
We built two robots and had no issues with any of them. Highly recommend.
Collin,
Can you show some up close pics of your gearbox?
I saw your beautiful robot, but not the drivetrain up close.
696 used one on their conveyor with no known issues.
1868 used the Gem for our rollers. We only needed the 3.67:1 reduction, so we took the second stage out. Worked great, no problems!

One of my favorite teams of the season and I loved the Bot. Was great to see you guys at Davis and can’t wait to play with you guys next year.
My team used them on our ball manipulation path, and we had no problems with them at all. I would definitely use them again if there was an opportunity to.
Excellent!
Other users: keep in mind that if you only use one stage of the GEM500, there is an interference between the CIM motor shaft and the gearbox carrier plate. We suggest that you cut off the CIM motor shaft on the outside of the Sun Gear and retainer clip.

I’m considering using one of these gearboxes in a non-FIRST related application with a much more powerful motor than a CIM. Does anyone know the power handling capabilities of this particular gearbox? It isn’t listed on the AM website as far as I can tell.
Thanks!
Nick
Your link is broken. Here: http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-0270.htm
We used a three stage for our lift in Breakaway and had zero trouble. It’s a tough box, we actually applied enough torque to twist the output shaft 30 degrees without any internal damage to the gearbox.
2815/1398 used the GEM in 2010 on the kicker, driving a cam to pull it back. For all our kicker issues, that wasn’t one of them.
