Andymark Bevel Gears

Many teams have been trying to create a swerve module using AM’s 40t and 20t bevel gear (similar to 2767) which is useful since that provides an automatic gear reduction. Sadly they don’t provide a drawing for meshing the 20t with the 40t on their site. After some digging and emailing I have received the drawing from AM. Hopefully they will update their site with this drawing. Good luck to all those planning on swerving their way into Power Up!

Andymark Bevel Gear Meshing for am-2620 and am-2621

Thats a great resource, but something ive been confused about for the longest time. How do you calculate bevel gears meshing distance? Ive googled for a long while and havnt been able to find a solution I understand.

Bevel gears have what’s called a “mounting distance”. It’s the distance from the axis of the meshing bevel gear to the back of the hub of the other bevel gear. One of the reasons not to modify the length of the hubs of bevel gears is because it messes up the MD and adds tolerance stackup.

The drawing lets you set up a 2D sketch, which allows you to create bearing holes for the plates. This layout sketch is how I would use the drawing (This is an old sketch and is not adjusted to the AM dimensions). This is a layout sketch utilizing VexPro’s 15t bevel gear drawing.
