AndyMark "Break Yo' Bot" Contest

All,

Another Friday during FRC build season, another AndyMark contest arrives. Now that we have some prototypes finished and robots starting to drive around, it’s time for debug to begin. With robot debug comes robot breakages. This isn’t a bad thing, as robots tend to break.

The earlier teams break their 'bot, the earlier they get fixed and teams learn the correct design for the broken mechanism.

So, let’s celebrate robots breaking!

AndyMark is happy to announce the “Break Yo’ Bot” contest](http://www.andymark.com/category-s/433.htm).

Deadline: Bag Day (Tuesday, Feb. 21st, 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time)

Rules:

  • Enter by making a video describing how you broke your robot and learned how to fix it. Include your team identification and team’s celebration of this breakage. Upload this video to a public cloud service, for all to see (Youtube, etc.).
  • Time limit is 3 minutes.
  • Keep it rated G.
  • Entries will be judged on creativity and effective technical lessons learned.
  • Winner will receive a $250 AndyMark gift certificate, along with a broken trophy with some duct tape.
  • Safe robot operating practices must be shown in the video.
  • Enter by emailing “contest - at - andymark.com” or by Tweeting @andymarkinc.

Have fun, be safe!

Sincerely,
Andy B.

Does breaking the field with your robot count? (Had to do it before someone beat me to it.)

You are very right about that, I have it out for your team image :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s wrong with our team image:

We’re quite fond of it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Not enough Zebra-striped pants.

Unless you mean a practice field, or are attending a week 0, I’m very curious as to how you intend to break a field before bag day.

Regardless of how unlikely it seems, I wouldn’t put it past the Zebracorns…

Mission Impossible style raid on the GDC room at FIRST HQ. GDC comes in next day and wonders why all the field ropes are snapped…

You didn’t read the rules closely. Nowhere does it specify what year the robot or footage needs to be from. Intended or not I don’t know but definitely not one of the rules.

You got me there.

Team 900: breaking rules and laws at the same time.

That’s some* old* school rules lawyering right there!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Andy Baker again.
Pretty sure it was for the last contest AM posted, too.
This is a great idea, looking forward to the videos that come out of it…

Bonus points if it’s a competitor’s product

The Average Joes are equal opportunity 'bot breakers. We have broken robot parts from Andymark, Vexpro, CTRE, WCP, REV, Digikey, McMaster-Carr, Online Metals, Armabot, Banebots, Robot Marketplace, Home Depot, Walmart, Ace Hardware, SDP-SI, 80-20, Fastenal, …

the list just keeps getting longer.
