Hi!
Has anyone tried using the US Digital encoder with the Sonic Shifter before? Is there an easy way to mount it?
Thanks!
Hi!

The sonic shifter has mounting holes for an Encoder Mount Pad on the back below the shifting mechanism. The US digital encoder can then be screwed into the mount. This is how we’ve always mounted encoders and works really well.
Ahh!! Thanks so much! That’s how we’ll mount them then
Do you have someone who our team could contact for info how to use encoders? I don’t believe that we have ever used them and that we would like to learn.
There are several good threads about this, are you looking how to physically mount and wire an encoder or code it? I did ask our programmer to check out this thread, he’ll be much more help than i could with the programming.
The US Digital page has all the specs - http://www.usdigital.com/products/encoders/incremental/rotary/kit/E4P
For wiring and programming, the Encoder example in LabVIEW gives you everything you need.
What programming language are you using?
Our team has never used encoders before. This will be our first year as well.
We were planning on just trial and error! Haha! Using examples and stuff from Labview.
I really am just worried about the programming stuff. I might help the build team or I may just leave it to themselves to figure out themselves :P. Our team wants to start PID, because we properly designed our robot last year, but didn’t use sensors. If we did use sensors, we would have probably won the championships.
