AndyMark always likes to have a little fun at the Championship, and it’s been a while since our pool noodle art contest in 2015. This time, we want to see your team style and profile with an outfit that uses Fuel!
For each FIRST Championship event, we’ll accept the first 20 designers that email [email protected]. “Designer”, for these rules, is one or more members of the same FIRST team.
Each designer will receive one case of fuel (36 balls), courtesy of AndyMark, to incorporate into an original outfit created during the FIRST Championship. Judging at each Championship will be Saturday morning at 9:00 AM at the AndyMark booth in the Robot Service Center.
Outfits may be modeled by another member of the same FIRST team, but the designer (or at least one of the collaborators) must be present to win. Maybe even a prominent mentor can be your model!
Teams will be judged on creative use of fuel, quality of construction, and the overall look.
Only one designer at each FIRST Championship will be “in”, and they will leave the runway with a $300 AndyMark gift certificate.
You were really hoping more teams would be shooting it weren’t you? How much do you have in that warehouse and how cheap is it going to be after the season?
The spirit of the contest is to create the piece at Championship. We’re trusting the entrants to know the difference between reasonable preparations before the event (sketching designs, figuring out who’s modeling, sourcing raw materials) and getting cheaty (showing up Wednesday just needing to tack fuel in place).
Would the contest committee be willing to accept digital pictures, emailed, facebooked, instagrammed, tweeted, or otherwise social media-ed as entries?
It sounded like the contest was limited to the first 20 applicants at each championship. Or did I understand that wrong and those are the only who get free fuel but anyone can enter?
I’m going to be the heavy and say no on this one. We can only handle so much awesomeness at one time.
For those that will be at Championship, we’ve got spots remaining at both events. In the case of Houston, please get that email in by 4:00 PM (Indiana time) Tuesday so we can plan ahead before most of us fly out. (St. Louis: Add a week.)
Here are the team numbers I have on our list as registered:

We had a ball (yuk yuk yuk…) with this in Houston, and we’re looking forward to it in St. Louis too! We do have a few more slots there, so if you’re interested email [email protected] before 4:00 PM on Tuesday so we can make sure you’re on the list.
