Anyone hear of any animation jobs out there for after college opportunities?
im prolly gonna keep my NASA job, but foundation imaging, square pictures⦠you need a good grounding in cinimatography first thogh.
ugh, my spelling is horrible!
Iām working on it, big buddy B^P. But you need a kickin demo reel to get the goods. Like this guy and his āAlien Songā. From what I hear from a lot of my friends graduating the Art Institute, they havent had much luck, but then again, looking at some of thier demo reelsā¦
Oh, and for those who dont know, a Demo Reel is a 1-5 minute clip of animation work you do that you compile and send in to an animation company with your resume when you are looking for a job there. Depending on what you want to do - SFX, Character Animation, Modelling, Texturing, Lighting, Backgrounds - thatās the majority of what you should have on your reel. And you also want it to be something youāve really worked on, tweaked, and perfected. Nothing screams āDONT HIRE MEā than sending someone a half done demo reel that is waaay too long.
It has to have a professional, finished look to it. And it should be something that stands out from the crowd, is memorable, and sticks to what the company wants to see. Wait, am I sounding like a certain ruleset <g>? And as far as the comment on the āIām working on itā, I am working towards a SIGGRAPH type of event at FIRST, something to jumpstart animation careers, so the engineering types arent the only ones leaving FIRST with a job and a school.
Good luck all, and happy animating!
