Does anyone have any good pre-made CAD exercises for teaching new students? I’ve seen threads of CAD practice drawings but I can’t seem to locate them. Does anyone know where these threads are, or have any resources for something similar? For reference, my team uses Fusion 360.
If you’re looking into practice drawings, last year’s CADvent is a really great starting point.
YES thats exactly what i was thinking of. i forgot what the name of it was but i remember seeing that when it came out last year. tysm!
Are you trying to teach them just the very basics of CAD like the tool bar and how to use shapes, patterns, constraints, etc
Or are you trying to teach them how to design FRC subsystems?
this is my other account, found the login a few minutes ago
basically trying to teach how to use the tool while also teaching the very basics of design
So my recommendation is this. If you have any old part drawings of like 2x1’s and hex shafts I would give those to the members you are trying to train and have them recreate them in CAD and kind of just let them figure out the tool bar by experimentation(that way lets them learn the other tools too) and just gently point them in the right direction.
If they have some knowledge of the tool bar but want some basics of FRC design
This video here is by far my favorite video to give to people who are trying to learn how to design for FRC
oooh yes thank you
We do several things. For brand new learners, I ask them to work through this 16 part series. As they complete them if they have questions or couldn’t make the parts as shown in the videos, I work with them to find the problems. They are a bit dated now as the Fusion interface has changed some, but I think they are useful for learning the basics.
The Robochargers (3005) put together an excellent series on CAD, Design and Onshape. Check it out on their youtube. (Some of the videos will be in the Live tab as well)
