Any sites to sell FRC parts?

Are there any sites that allow you to sell FRC parts atm? Would love to see some if so. If not, would love to implement it into Scout Machine.

There are no dedicated sites that I know of, though I have seen people posting stuff here like “selling N falcon 500s” and informally working stuff out.

There have been many attempts at this over the years. There used to be CD-Swap and several teams have setup many sites that all eventually disappear because there isn’t really a lot demand.

This is a common feature request I get for https://findrobotparts.com/ . We get a good amount of traffic on that site but not enough to warrant building a section to buy/sell/swap parts from other teams. If CD-Swap wasn’t successful, on a site with a lot of the right kind of built-in traffic, I find it hard for others to succeed. Maybe one day someone will crack the code to make it successful.

The biggest issue I see is someone has to then assume responsibility for the site, the listings, moderation, etc. Now when payments are involved it becomes much more expensive to run and maintain and there’s also a default level of security needed that someone ultimately has to pay for and upkeep.

If they got a % cut of the sale then possibly, but that gets messy when school based teams are selling parts and some private corporation is getting a cut of the proceeds without any real authority as a Vendor.

Maybe if it was maintained ala Craigslist style with no responsibility of listings, sales, etc but again that sounds very much like what CD-Swap was intended to be.

I was referring more so to a site where you can just post your listing and then add contact info and contact the buyer through third party apps - it would just be a site to connect buyers and sellers but for FRC Parts.

Thank of it like Facebook Marketplace for FRC.

Maybe this could be a feature of frczero.org at some point. We have open server space for something like this and if we aren’t liable or responsible for the monetary transactions, communication between buyer and seller, etc more like a bulletin board I’m in.

We are currently working on getting an API setup for various things, as well as updating CMS for the site. So having a way to add Parts for sale or trade and a listings page?

findrobotparts.com still seems like a better fit personally, but that’s not my site to control or maintain
