I have the same documents and the same instructions as the last 2 years for having FedEx pick up our crate, only this time, I’m told that the shipment requires a “Bill of Lading” not the “Express Freight Airbill.”
I can’t schedule a pick up untill FedEx gets me the proper forms.
You may have received something different due to qualifying late at a DCMP, but FIRST sent us a Fedex Freight Economy bill of lading, not an airbill.
You sure you have an airbill? That would be for air freight shipping of your crate through Fedex Express Freight. It seems pretty unlikely that FIRST is using air freight for domestic shipments that have 7 business days to go less than halfway across the country to the drayage site. If you do indeed have an airbill then you are talking to the wrong people and need to schedule an express freight pickup and that would explain why normal Fedex Freight is unable to schedule a pickup for you.
My form that First gave me was a fedex uniform bill of laden. To my recollection it was the same form as last year. The now normal procedure is to fill out a form First sends you, then they process the paper work and sends you the correct form. District champs and presumably late regionals still hand out the paper work. At this late date, I would call First logistics directly.
Turns out it was a internal miscommunication. We did get an airbill, but they were expecting us to use Freight Express. Somewhere they decided NE would use air, but forgot to inform the people scheduling pick up.
Whatever, it’s been cleared up. If any other NE teams experience this, PM me and I’ll give you contact inside FedEx for clearing it up.
