Anyone know where I can find the kitbot cad?
You can find the kitbot documentation package near the bottom of this blog post: https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc/blog/2024-kickoff-already
Should be under CAD Drawings!
It doesnt allow me to import into onshape.
You don’t need to, there’s an onshape version.
thanks!
A little late I know, but does anyone have a version of the KitBot CAD that will open in Autodesk Inventor? The CAD download does not include STEP files for the entire assembly (just the chassis) and exporting the assembly from Onshape results in a “This file is a newer version than Inventor can read” error (which I’ve never seen from anything I’ve ever exported from OnShape, or any STEP file for that matter). I’m running Inventor 2022 if that helps any.
Did you try importing the Solidworks version?
Same error: “This file is a newer version than Inventor can read”
Is your Inventor version the education edition or a commercial version? I think some commercial versions won’t open files if they are made with an education version.
I mean, it’s “Autodesk Inventor Professional 2022” but it is registered under an education license, yes. Regardless, I’m still surprised it won’t open .STEP files exported from OnShape, my impression was that .STEP was a universal format that didn’t really have backwards-compatibility issues, I’ve never had a problem opening a STEP file in the 15+ years I’ve used Inventor.
Maybe if someone is able to open the Solidworks version in something other than Onshape they could export it to STEP and it would work better?
