Apex Robotics Team 5803 Presents SUBZ3R°

Team 5803 (Apex Robotics) is proud to present our 2016 FIRST Stronghold robot, SUBZ3R°! We have made a short reveal video showcasing said robot. Please enjoy! We look forward to seeing you at competition!

Apex Robotics is a rookie team based out of Seattle, Washington. We will be competing at Auburn Mountainview this weekend.

(P.S. Yes those bumpers are illegal. They’re practice-only:))

I’m incredibly excited to see how this team does for years to come.

Been waiting on a reveal for a while now! Turned out excellent.

Best of luck, Apex!

PS-Send my love to Navid. <3

Blocked in Canada :frowning:

I absolutely love this robot! Great design and strategy. Can’t wait to watch it on the field.

I can’t wait to see you guys compete!
Good luck this weekend!!!

Yeah, looks like YouTube doesn’t allow the song to be played in Canada. It may clear in a few days, but we’ll look in to uploading it to an alternate location for the international folks.

I also want to say how proud I am not only of our team for what we’ve accomplished, but especially of Jonathan, Conner and Nathan, the three students who dedicated a lot of time to making this video. Everything in the video, including the animations, rendering and editing was done by them. I thought it was important for Jonathan to post this here instead of me, lest it be mistaken for one of my videos. This is far better than anything I’ve made. A lot of thought, planning and dedication went into the making of the video and I was blown away by the results. It’s amazing what happens when students are inspired!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, we took some glamor shots of the competition robot tonight while it was out of the bag for our community reveal, hopefully we can post a nice picture with some specs before load-in on Thursday.

Solid robot for a first year team. The branding of this team is probably one of the best I’ve seen. Will be watching and rooting for you guys in Auburn.

Great job Apex!
Should be an amazing rookie year for you.

Hopefully I’ll see you all at PNW.

You have a sweet video and robot. I like that you took the time to make sleek looking bumpers for outreach purposes! Never would have occurred to me, but they really add something.

Thanks John, best of luck at Glacier. We’ll see you at Central!

Great video and great looking robot guys!

I really love this robot and the members of 5803 should be really proud of their efforts.

This video has become one of my favorite reveals from a quality perspective you guys did a fantastic job on the production side! Can’t wait to see more in the future!

Thanks for the compliments! We made practice bumpers for a few reasons:

  1. We do have a practice robot (which is actually what is driving in the video), and we expect bumpers to get beat up in both practice and competition, so we figured it would help to spread the punishment around.
  2. Since this team had never built bumpers before, it was very useful to learn how to build them properly on the non-competition set. We learned a lot about how to wrap the fabric tight and how to place the numbers so that they’re most visible and line up correctly!
*] We were really inspired by the look of 118’s “show bumpers” and thought it was a fantastic way to have something for when we show off the robot to sponsors and the community to help with team recognition and branding.

Nice looking bot and a great reveal video!!
I am looking forward to working with you on the field and off at Auburn MV and Central.

Best of luck to you!

I am extremely proud of all the students on this rookie team! This video is a great representation of all of their ideas and efforts coming to fruition. Cant wait to work with them more as we start competing, the fun has only just begun!!

See you all at Auburn Mountain View and Central WA!!
