Giving a proper apology is more than “I’m sorry” and far too often I see folks weasel by on “I apologize you felt that way” which is straight up bovine feces.
- Expression of regret
- Explanation of what went wrong
- Acknowledgment of responsibility
- Declaration of repentance
- Offer of repair
- Request for forgiveness
Please internalize this and learn to recognize and give proper apologies.
One of my biggest learning opportunities on this site was when I put my foot in my mouth with a flippant comment and Madison called me out hard. Learned a lot. Gained a lot of respect for her that day.
Do not take this as saying anything about this particular apology. It is simply trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
