There are a few minor flaws a few of us at work thought about, but overall it seems like a good service. I’m sure they’ll work out the kinks as it progresses.

But … if you usually only listen to 2-3 songs per CD, paying $3 for the 3 songs is a lot better than paying $15 for the 3 songs & 9 you don’t like. Seems like a good deal, and I hope they put out a windows version of iTunes soon, as rumored.

I could go for a windows version of iTunes… I play too many PC-only games and such to actually buy a Mac, but I have been quite impressed with some of their recent innovations. This service seems like a pretty good one, so we’ll have to see.

iTunes is coming to the PC by the end of the year. Apple has already started work on it. Apple is looking for applicants on Monster.com right now if you look…

I just searched for a couple dozen bands I like and got hits on six. Not a good place to shop for indie or other non-mainstream yet. No matches for Afro Celt, Morphine nor Shipping News. They did have a good selection of Gary Moore and some Massive Attack (but none of their collaborations).

At least the DRM is fairly user friendly and it would let me buy just the songs I want, if they ever have them. A couple of albums (which I already have) were priced in the $10 - 12 range; not too bad, I guess.

I am impressed with the store too, but even though I like Apple and the Macintosh very much, I don’t think it is going to have much overall impact because

  1. People under 18 don’t have credit cards, and I don’t think that some parents would allow them to buy music, especially the ones with vulgar language, the teenage group I say is at least 50% of the music industry customers.

  2. As long as Kazza is alive, people will probably download for free. I think it might have a impact on the Mac community, because all the P2P services are absolutely horrible. But the PC community is something else.

I know that some songs are not available yet, it is because Apple wants to do it right. They have to go to original recording and rip it into 128 AAC, so it can achieve the best quality. They will start with the most recent songs and move down to really old songs that is very hard to find. I would say to give it a month, and all the music should be there.

It is rumored by Forbes magazine that the Windows Version of iTunes might be the standard AOL jukebox in future versions.

well i think this might sum up how i like it. I have already bought three albums and two songs from there. I think that it is ok, and atleast you know that you are gettin the actual song and good quality. Although it can become a bit expensive. Although what i like about iTunes 4 is how you can also share you playlists over a network. Although here at my school they have it blocked to the extent that you cant copy other peoples ssongs, but you can listen to them. well thats just what i think. although i also like the new iPod that has some out, i really want one. well there we go, my .02 on the new Apple Music Store.

Later guys
Mike

Ok dude, I’m comming over! I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!!!

BTW, I might get the new iPod… :yikes:

I really dont think the whole itunes thing is a good idea. It seems funny that the ipod promotes illegal music downloading (do you seriously think your going to pay for 2000+ songs?). I also dont like the new ipod, but I’m a big fan of the other model. My brother has a 10gb version of it and it’s the perfect size and the buttons are great (one hand operation). I heard with these new ipods even though they may be smaller it’s near impossible to operate the scroll wheel and the buttons at the same time.
