I’m a member of Team 20, The Rocketeers, and we’re going to be leading a scouting “alliance” at Championships to alleviate the time constraints required by all of our members to scout the entirety of the Qualification matches, as we did at both of our regional events this year. We’ve had similar setups at both of our regionals, and we’d like to extend the system to the Archimedes Division.
In doing so, we’d like to invite teams to consider scouting with us.
We already have a commitment by the members of Team 3044, 0xBe4, to help scout with us as they did at the WPI Regional.
Anyone that is interested can email me at [email protected], PM me, or reply to this thread with any questions or information about our scouting system.
Thank you guys, and let’s win one for Archimedes this year!
Team 2468 is interested in partnering in scouting. We have used a system at two regionals this year and have partnered with several other teams using it.
Im Adriana Rice head scout on Team 20. This is how it has worked in our past 2 regionals where we colaboratively match scouted.
We have a spot in the stands where we sit with 6 scouts , 1-2 head scouts to organize, 1 person to enter data, and someone to file away the sheets.
Each of the 6 scouts gets a pen, clipbord and a stack of match scouting sheets. On the clipbord is a lable which tells the scout which robot they will, be watching. During there match they fill in their sheet. At the end of the match they hand it to the head scouts who scans it for any missing information or obvious errors, accidents happen so we double check :). The sheets are then handed off to Data entry and entered, then go off to be filed.
We continually upload to Dropbox the information as close to real time as we can to give teams up to date information on robot preformances. All teams who scout with us will have acces to the information,as well as the Excel spread sheets which show important averages and statistics.
What we ask of teams that scout with us is to be on a rotation of shifts one hour long throughout the competition. The more scouts we have colaborating the fewer shifts each scouts must take. As a plus team 20 allways has a treat in the stands for each shift. As it stands we have enough scouts for 4 groups on a rotation basis. So scouts would have one hour on and 3 hours off.
This year we have also instituted a system where we also “pay” all scouts participating in lazer engraved “microchips” currency per shift ,these chips can be traded in for small fun prizes.
If you would like to see an example of the scouting sheets we used or have questions any other type of specifics about scouting together just shoot me an email at [email protected] or comment further.
Thank you guys for your support. We’ve received your emails and Adriana and I will be contacting you soon with information on our scouting system and our planned schedule for scouting throughout champs as well as possible feedback on anything you’d like to be added to our existing system.
Hi, I’m one of the data captains from team 2959, and we’d love to be a part of this data collaboration. We do take data using our iPad app that a few students and a mentor wrote for this purpose. We can combine the data in excel or access if you’d like to compare. If any of you have iPads, we can send the link your way. If you have any questions or would like to know more about the app you can contact me at: [email protected]
Would you be able to email me, so I can include you in an email I am preparing to send to all of the teams that expressed interest It would be helpful to be able to contact all of you together Thank You
Thanks to all of the teams who have expressed interest in scouting with us. We are super excited at the prospect of working with you all. At this time. We have enough teams to make this colaboration really effective. So at this point I have to announce that we will only be able to include teams who have allready contacted us by commenting or emailing. Best of luck to you all and see you at the competition
I just sent out an email with detailed information to every one who provided me with one, if some how I missed one Please let me know I would hate to miss out on working with you because of an oversight on my part. If you have commented but not yet emailed me please do so as soon as possible Thank you
It is such a shame that I didn’t see this thread earlier. I represent the scouting team of LamBot. I understand that you have all the people you need, but if you are interested in having some Mexican guys helping we would be more than glad to do it. Good luck at the competition.
