Are bounce-outs keeping you up at night?

Hey all,

We built a modified version of the home field piece and after shooting several, we noticed that we are experiencing some bounce-outs (see yellow note in video below). We’re wondering:

  • Is it just us? If not, are you concerned at all?
  • Are there any teams who built the Fabworks version of the field piece experience the same thing?
  • Is your team mitigating this risk? Perhaps by shooting slower, or changing ur angle, maybe both?

If you are using the multi-flavor notes from Gopher, they are pretty different from each other and from the actual notes themselves.

We have tested the notes procured from AndyMark extensively through many iterations of our shooter mech and they are very consistent. Even through wear.

We received the Gopher notes last Friday and right away the students noticed a difference in just handling them as well as in throwing them in HP practice.

Sending these same Gopher notes through our intake and shooter mechs, they gave us a lot of problems in terms of consistency.

Moving forward, we will only use the Gopher multi-flavor rings only for simple prototyping and insulate them from actual practice and testing.

My students have now named each of the colored rings from Gopher as follows:
Red = Tomato Paste
Orange =Carrot
Yellow = Corn
Green= Cucumber
Blue = Blue
Purple = Egg Plant
Stupid as it sounds, it helps us when we call out what game piece we are sending through tests.

But yes, even with the actual notes, we get bounce outs. Drive closer and dial in that shooter to be more consistent. A minute amount of travel towards the speaker to gain more success is worth more than a stronger shot from further away that may increase your chance of failure. How many cycles do you think your team can run in a match?

Those were all podium shots, so we probably just need to slow down the mechanism.

They just couldnt call the color?! :joy:

Lol cycles?!?! We dont even have pinions on our swerve drive! Eta monday.
