Attention Mozilla/NS6 Users: CD Sidebar

So, I went looking through the code that produces the ‘New Posts’ search results page. I plan on never looking at that code again. :ahh:

Anyway. For all of you that use Mozilla or Netscape, and know what the sidebar is, you may be interested in using the ChiefDelphi Sidebar to browse the site. It will return a list of threads similar to the list that is returned from the ‘New Posts’ link on the home page.

You can install the side bar from the extras page.

Reply here if you have any troubles, suggestions, etc, as usual.

This is nice. Thanks a lot!

The side bar is giving me this message. What does it mean?

Hmm…not sure. Thats not an error our page would produce. Can you take a screen shot of it, maybe jonathan or I can help a bit. Also, what browser/version/etc are you using.

It went away next time I logged on. I’m running Netscape 7, or more specifically :

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020823 Netscape/7.0

Next time it happens I’ll take a picture.

I know you don’t want to hack the code again, but would it be possible to display less information? Only a few threads can be displayed at my resolution (1024/768). I wouldn’t mind if the thread starter or the last reply information was omitted in order to display more compactly.

Other then that, I like it.

I’ve attached a screen shot so that people who don’t have mozilla/netscape can see what they are missing out on.

Displaying the info is a breeze. It was getting the code out of the search.php file to get the data. That I am never touching again.

Tonight, or tomorrow … I will make it an option to see all the goodies. So, you’ll either see:

[icon][icon][thread]
or
[icon][icon][thread]
[all of the goodies]

And, I agree with you – the Sidebar is my new favorite way to keep up-to-date on the forums.

Ok. Done.
There are now 2 separate install links on the extras page. Differences are described above.

Hmm… if you’re having trouble, reload it and mess with it a few times and it seems to work beautifully. I was having some iframe scrollbar and spacing trouble, but it was likely my cache. All better…
