Attention New England Teams: Free CNC Routing Table (No Router Included)

Hey Everyone-

We have an older X-Y table w/ Z attachment in our lab. We had plans to convert it into a CNC router, but one of our sponsors has hooked us up with a newer and bigger table to do this on.

The table has a 4’X4’ cutting area, but needs some work as far as controls and potentially new motors (to make it easier to control) and a routing head. Our research estimated that for about $500 we could turn this into a very useful piece of equipment for our team.

Our new table arrives this weekend and we need to ditch the old one ASAP. Instead of scrapping it or leaving it outside to rust, we wanted to offer it to any FRC team that may be interested. I would be happy to share what I know about the table and what research we have conducted with whomever picks the table up.

The catch: Ideally we want this thing gone within a week and you will either need a decent sized pickup or to take part of the table apart to get it out of here. We can help load it if that helps as well.

See attached photos if you’re interested and shoot me a PM or an email at brandonjholley [AT] gmail [DOT] com.

Hm just to clarify it’s currently located in Boston?

1058 might be interested, we’ve been looking for a CNC. I’ll pass it along to the mentors to see if it’s what we want and get back to you ASAP.

4761 might also be interested. I’ll check with our mentors

You should be getting an email from one of our mentors soon about it.

Dibs! Emailed.

558 is also highly interested, and sent you a message, we’ve been looking to pick one up since the end of last season.

Amazing race time who can get to Boston first!

3467 would totally be all over this but we have no where to put it.

Hey guys-

Yes this table is right in Boston’s Back Bay.

I’ve had several teams reach out and I’m simply going by first come first serve. If the situation changes I will update this thread.

I will definitely be happy to see this go to another FRC team, hopefully it helps them add some solid capability.
