Auto defense

I would love to see a team focus on programming their robot to strategically drop their starting ring in the front row of rings and swiftly go to the midline to obstruct opponents from scoring the mid rings. While many teams are concentrating on scoring points, I believe it would be intriguing to witness teams employing tactics to prevent their opponents from scoring in auto. Successfully executing this strategy would introduce a new dimension to the game.

Yes I’ve seen that discussed in other posts as well. It’s fine as long as you don’t contact opponents when you are completely over the center line

Prioritizing getting to center line notes quickly also has the benefit of leaving the notes in the wing for your alliance partners.

Will this encourage people to post videos of their robots disrupting center line autos? I would love to see people post videos of their robots testing chaos autons.

We plan to strategically drop our ring into the Speaker then grab from the center line.

Interesting Idea, however, I only see this working once per competition. FIRST never designs their games to be played defensively. I see this type of strategy eventually becoming a tech foul. Food for thought.

Doubt it.

The GDC is well aware of what happens when there’s an auto resource that both alliances can get to. Not once have they retroactively made it illegal.

To be honest I am posting this for the teams with less resources. If your not able to score like the top 10 teams in first you can always stop them from scoring.

Unlike last year, defense can have value but only if you can prevent more scoring than you could score yourself.
